Maruata

A night in Maruata includes spectacular stars, bongo drums, bonfires and all of your "earthloving" vibes. About 2 1/2 hours south of Manzanillo on the Michoácan coast, you will find the incredible paradise of Maruata, a great place to forget the last few hundred of years of history and get back to the basics.

Isolated beaches and undulating cliffs unfold before your very eyes in a series of four or five private, course sand beaches. A tiny town has all the necessities for people unfazed by roughing it in a tent. The beaches of Marauta are teaming with exotic birds, savoury seafood and thatched huts to hang a hammock and let time tick by unnoticed.

Maruata is one of the most energetic spots on the Mexican Pacific, and the sun worshippers use this spiritual place as a refuge from the mainstream.

We don't want to describe much more of Marjuata, it is beautiful. If you go you will understand, if you don't think that it is worth your time, or do not want to drive the curvy roads to get there... that is ok, Marjuata won't miss you at all.

The Michoácan coast is historically been known as a dangerous place to travel, both for the curvy roads and the isolated streches that banditos and drug runners like to set up shop. The last few years things have settled down a bit, but it still is not the safest place. Please do NOT drive at night, and don't bring valuables. Travel at your own risk.
